Goblinette by the pond

This one was a bit of an experiment on doing a more finished pencil drawing and laying color on top with Ecoline. I finished things with some crayons and white gouache.

All in all, I’m happy with the result, but I was hoping for a more streamlined/quicker way to work… it was not too successful in that regard, although maybe once I have more familiarity with these paints and how they behave, it could be faster.

And it’s never a bad thing in my book to have more excuses to draw goblins!

Creatures Illustration Painting

Septempera 2020

As it’s been my tradition for the past few years, during the month of September I made a bunch of little gouache paintings for my #septempera challenge. This time I came nowhere near to daily, which was expected as Federico and I are finishing our comic, but all things considered I think it was a pretty decent showing.

All these are quite small (roughly 7-8 cm per side) and painted in watercolor and gouache on watercolor paper.

I’ve put some of them up as prints on my Inprnt.

Collaborative Six Fanarts

We had such a great time with this challenge that we wanted to do some more in collaboration, but we didn’t take suggestions for this one (except for the Dude) and just painted things we’re both fans of instead!

The top row are my drawings, painted by Federico: the Dude Lebowski, Isaac the pirate, Doc Cochran. Painted with acrylics.

The bottom row are Federico’s drawings, painted by me: Deet, Grogro, Nadja. Painted the Grogro with acrylics, gouache for the other two.

We very much enjoy collaborating and it’s great to see how things turn out when we do, the results are always interesting and unexpected.

Victoria’s Six Fanarts

Earlier this year I did a few little pieces based on popular characters, for a social media thing called #sixfanarts. I chose my favorite suggestions and painted these:

The characters are: Asterix, Frodo Baggins, Jemima Puddle-Duck, Mafalda, Skeletor and Snufkin.

All of them were painted with acrylic inks, it was a great excuse to experiment and do some pressure-free art and get rid of some of the quarantine mental cobwebs.
